Author Guidelines

Journal «Legal Bulletin of the Kuban State University» is published 4 times a year.

The «Legal Bulletin of the Kuban State University» accepts for publication manuscripts of novice and experienced authors, containing relevant, new and original results of scientific and applied research in various fields of legal science, with the aim of their further development, solutions of topical problems, interaction of scientists in Russia and other countries of the world.

The specified purpose is provided by objective monitoring of features and ways to improve the current legislation of Russia, foreign countries, the practice of its application, legal technique.

The journal accepts for publication in Russian articles, scientific reports, reviews and surveys. These manuscripts should be devoted to legal subjects, meet the criteria of relevance, scientific novelty, uniqueness, and contain constructive suggestions for improving legislation and new concepts aimed at the further development of legal science.

Journal accepts materials from postgraduate students, applicants, doctoral candidates, specialists and experts in the field.

No fee is charged for the publication of manuscripts and their reviewing. No remuneration is paid to the author(s).

 

I. RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE AUTHOR BEFORE SUBMITTING AN ARTICLE

Submission of an article to the journal "Legal Bulletin of the Kuban State University" implies that:

  • the article has not been previously published in another journal;
  • the article is not under consideration in another journal;
  • all co-authors agree with the publication of the current version of the article.

Before sending the article for consideration, it is necessary to make sure that the file(s) contains all the necessary information in Russian and English, the sources of the information in the figures and tables are indicated, all citations are correctly formatted.

on the title page of the article are placed (in Russian and English):

 

 i. Name of author(s).

Authors are people who have been identified by the research team as the main contributors to the outlined work and who have agreed to take responsibility for their work. In addition to being responsible for their part of the work, the author should be able to indicate which of their co-authors are responsible for other parts of the work.

The Journal of the Legal Bulletin of Kuban State University adopts the following criteria for authorship:

  1. Substantial contribution to the conception and design of the research, data collection, or data analysis and interpretation.
  2. Preparation of the article or its critical revision in terms of meaningful intellectual content.
  3. final approval of the version of the article for publication.

The list of authors does not include people who are not the authors of the article. The names of people who are not authors, but have provided other support, are indicated in the Acknowledgements section.

In Russian, when indicating the authors of the article, the surname should be indicated before the initials of the name and patronymic (Ivanov P. S., Petrov S. I., Sidorov I. P.).

In English, the format "Name, initials, surname" (Ivan I. Ivanov) is used when indicating the authors of the article. Surnames in English should be indicated in accordance with the foreign passport or as it was indicated in previously published articles. If the author does not have a foreign passport and/or publications, it is necessary to use the BSI standard for transliteration of the surname and first name.

 

ii. Information about the author(s)

This section lists the title, position, and other regalia. The e-mail and full mailing address of the responsible author are also listed here.

 

iii. Affiliation of the author(s)

The affiliation includes the following information: full official name of the organization, full mailing address (including zip code, city and country). Authors need to indicate all places of work relevant to the study.

If authors from different institutions participated in the preparation of the article, it is necessary to indicate the affiliation of each author with a specific institution using a superscript.

The official English-language name of the institution is required for the English-language block of information.

 

iv. Title of the article

The title of the article in Russian should correspond to the content of the article.

The English-language title should be competent from the point of view of the English language, at the same time in its meaning it fully corresponds to the Russian-language title.

 

v. Abstract

Recommended length of structured abstract: 200-300 words. The abstract should contain the following sections: purpose, objectives, methods, results, conclusions of the author(s).

The abstract should not include newly introduced terms, abbreviations (except for commonly known ones), references to literature.

 

vi. Keywords

Keywords (three to ten) should contain words and phrases describing the problematic of the manuscript.

 

vii. Acknowledgements

This section indicates all sources of funding for the research, as well as acknowledgements to people who participated in the work on the article, but are not its authors. Involvement in the article includes: recommendations for improving the research, providing space for research, departmental oversight, receiving financial support, solitary types of analysis, and providing materials for research.

 

viii. Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest is a context in which people have conflicting or competing interests that can influence an editorial decision. Conflicts of interest can be potential or perceived as well as actual. Personal, political, financial, scientific, or religious factors may affect objectivity.

The author must notify the editor of a real or potential conflict of interest by including information about the conflict of interest in the appropriate section of the article.

If there is no conflict of interest, the author must also disclose it. Example wording: "The author declares that there is no conflict of interest.

 

ix.Text of the article

The journal has adopted the IMRAD (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion) format.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DESIGN OF THE ARTICLE, ABSTRACT, KEYWORDS, LIST OF REFERENCES AND REFERENCES TO SOURCES

The Editorial Board of the journal "Legal Bulletin of the Kuban State University" has the following mandatory requirements for manuscripts of authors and accompanying materials:

  1. one printed copy of the manuscript.

In Russian language the volume of an article should not exceed 15 pages; of a scientific communication - not more than 3 pages; of a review, review - not more than 5 pages.

These requirements apply to the main content of the manuscript.

Articles, the main content of which is structured into the following elements, are accepted for publication:

  • introduction, which defines the nature and scope of the problems under study, explains the goals of the study, and identifies any specialized terms or abbreviations used further in the text of the article;
  • research methods in a detailed form: indication of general scientific and special methods of research, geography of research, legislative, administrative and judicial practice involved. The method or methodology of the work is appropriate to describe if they are distinguished by novelty or are of interest in terms of the work presented.
  • research results indicating new knowledge obtained, which may reflect the recommendations, assessments, suggestions, hypotheses described in the article;
  • scientific discussion of the issues discussed in the article: the explanation by the author (s) of the meaning and implications of the research results.

If the author wishes, the main content of the article may also include a "Literature review" section.

The following requirements are imposed on computer typed manuscripts:

  • A4 format;
  • font size: A4; font size: 14;
  • font Times New Roman;
  • line spacing - 1.5;
  • Page numbering - bottom center;
  • all margins - 2 cm
  • indent - 1,25 cm;
  • footnotes are on pages, set automatically, font size 12, Times New Roman (rules for footnotes can be found in section xiii "Footnotes" of these Rules);
  • single line spacing.

It is necessary to distinguish between hyphens (-) and dashes (-). A dash without spaces is placed between the figures (for example: P. 12-14).

At the end of the manuscript a list of references (in Russian and English) should be placed (the rules for the list of references can be found in section xiv "List of references" of these Rules).

The manuscript should contain the title (section iv "Title of the article" of these Rules) and the following information about the author(s) (sections: i "Name of author(s)"; ii "Information about the author(s)"; iii. "Affiliation of the author(s)" of the present Rules):

  • full name (in full);
  • title, position (status), academic degree, other regalia;
  • e-mail, telephone number and full postal address of the responsible author;
  • full official name of the organization, full postal address (including zip code, city and country). Authors should indicate all places of work relevant to the study;
  • unique digital identifier of the author (ORCID), identifiers of the researcher: Author ID in the scientific literature database Scopus, identifier Web of Science ResearcherID (if available).

All information should be presented in Russian and English.

DOI manuscript digital identifier is assigned by the journal executive secretary.

  1. CD-disk (or flash-card) with the electronic version of the manuscript in MS-Word (the file is given a name by the surname and initials of the author(s) of the manuscript).
  2. Testimonial of the supervisor and an excerpt from the minutes of the department meeting (for graduate students, adjuncts and applicants). The signature in the review is certified by the corresponding personnel structure.
  3. Each manuscript should begin with:
  • title;
  • surname, first name and patronymic of the author(s);
  • title, position (status), other regalia (it is necessary to specify e-mail, phone number for contact of the responsible author);
  • full official name of the organization, full postal address (including zip code, city and country);
  • unique digital identifier of the author (ORCID), ResearcherID (if available);
  • a brief abstract (200-300 words; includes the following sections: purpose, objectives, methods, results, conclusions of the author(s)) and a list of key words or phrases (no more than ten). The abstract and key words should necessarily be translated into English.
  1. Figures, tables, diagrams, screenshots and photos are inserted in the text of the manuscript in the right place and are executed according to the sections: x "Figures"; xi "Tables"; xii "Screenshots and photos" of these Rules.

The Editorial Office is not responsible for the quality of these materials.

  1. All manuscripts accepted by the Editorial Board for review are subject to obligatory reviewing. Reviewing is organized by the editorial board on the principles of objectivity, anonymity and confidentiality. A copy of the review may be sent to the author(s) upon request.

The manuscripts, which are not compliant with the requirements, are not considered and are not returned.

Questions related to the requirements to the design and submission of manuscripts are accepted at the e-mail address of the editorial office.

The Editorial Board does not enter into any other questions or private correspondence with the authors.

In case a manuscript is rejected by the Editorial Board, a reasoned refusal is sent to the author(s).

If the manuscript is simultaneously sent to another edition, the author (authors) are obliged to inform the editorial board.

 

x. Drawings

Drawings must be of good quality, suitable for printing.

All drawings must have captions.

The caption should be translated into English.

Figures are numbered in Arabic numerals according to the order in the text. If there is only one figure in the text, it is not numbered.

References to figures should be formatted as follows: "Fig. 3 indicates that ..." or "It is indicated that ... (see Fig. 3)".

The caption under the figure includes a figure number and its title. Center alignment: "Figure 2. Description of vital processes".

The caption should not be followed by a period.

Translation of the figure caption should be placed after the figure caption in Russian.

 

xi. Tables

Tables should be of good quality, suitable for printing. Tables suitable for editing are preferred, not scanned or as drawings.

All tables should have headings.

The title of the table should be translated into English.

Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals in order in the text. If there is only one table in the text, it is not numbered.

References to the tables are formatted as follows: "Table 3 states that ..." or "It is stated that ... (see Table 3)".

The title of the table includes the table number and its name.

It is centered: "Table 2. Description of vital processes".

No period is put after the title of the table.

The translation of the table title must follow the title of the table in Russian.

 

xii. Screenshots and photographs

Photos, screenshots and other non-drawn illustrations should be uploaded separately in the special section of the article submission form in the form of *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.gif files (*.doc and *.docx - in case additional marks are put on the image). The resolution of the image should be >300 dpi. The image files should be given a name corresponding to the figure number in the text. In the description of the file a caption should be given separately, which should correspond to the name of the picture, placed in the text.   

 

xiii. Footnotes

Footnotes should be numbered in Arabic numerals and should be placed page by page. In the footnotes can be placed: links to anonymous sources on the Internet, links to textbooks, manuals, state standards, statistical reports, articles in socio-political newspapers and magazines, abstracts, dissertations (if there is no possibility to quote articles published on the results of the thesis research), comments of the author.

 

xiv. List of references

The list of references must contain references only to scientific sources of at least 15, some of which are indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases.

The structure of this list should be arranged in alphabetical order. Publications in Russian are reflected first, followed by foreign sources.

The journal uses the Vancouver citation format, which implies a reference to the source in square brackets and subsequent mentioning of sources in the list of references in the order of mentioning. The page is indicated inside the brackets, with a comma and a space after the source number: [6, с. 8]

Only peer-reviewed sources (articles from scientific journals and monographs) mentioned in the text of the article are included in the list of references.

It is undesirable to include in the list of references authored abstracts, dissertations, textbooks, manuals, state standards, information from websites, statistical reports, articles in socio-political newspapers, websites and blogs. If it is necessary to refer to such information, information about the source should be placed in a footnote.

When describing the source, its DOI should be given, if it can be found (for foreign sources it can be done in 95% of cases).

References to articles accepted for publication but not yet published should be marked with the words "in press"; authors should obtain written permission to refer to such documents and confirm that they have been accepted for publication. Information from unpublished sources should be marked with the words "unpublished data/documents," and authors should also receive written permission to use such materials.

References to articles from journals must necessarily indicate the year of publication, the volume and number of the journal, and page numbers.

The description of each source should include all authors.

The references must be verified, and the outputs must be checked with the official website of the journals and/or publishers.

An English translation of the reference list is required. After the description of the Russian-language source, an indication of the language of the work is placed at the end of the reference: (In Russ.).

For transliteration of authors' names and names of journals, the BSI standard should be used.

With 1-3 authors:

The name of the journal and the title of monographs and anthologies are in italics and followed by a dot after the initials. There is no comma between the author's surname and initials.

In general, the structure of references to an article is as follows:

II. How to submit an article for consideration

The manuscript of the article should be sent to the editorial board via the online form. The file with the article uploaded into the system should be in Microsoft Word format (have the extension *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf).

 

III. Interaction between the journal and the author

The editorial staff maintains correspondence with the responsible (contact) author, but if the team of authors wishes, letters can be sent to all authors, for which an e-mail address is indicated.

All incoming articles to the journal "Legal Bulletin of Kuban State University" are checked in advance by the responsible secretary of the journal for compliance with the formal requirements. At this stage the article may be returned to the author(s) for revision with a request to eliminate errors or add missing data. Also at this stage the article may be rejected due to its inconsistency with the journal objectives, lack of originality, low scientific value.

After the preliminary review, the editor in charge submits the article to the reviewer with the indication of the timing of the review. A corresponding notification is sent to the author.

In controversial cases, the editor may involve several specialists in the review process, as well as the chief editor.

If the reviewer's opinion is positive, the article is submitted to the editor for preparation to print.

When a decision is made to improve the article, the reviewer's comments are passed on to the author. The author is given 2 months to eliminate the comments. If during this period the author did not inform the editorial board about the planned actions, the article is removed from the publication queue.

When the decision to refuse the publication of the article is made, the corresponding decision of the editorial board is sent to the author.

The responsible (contact) author of the article accepted for publication is sent the final version of the layout, which he is obliged to check. The answer is expected from the authors within 2 days. If there is no response from the author, the layout of the article is considered to be approved.

 

IV. Procedure for Reviewing Editor/Reviewer Decisions

If the author does not agree with the conclusion of the reviewer and/or editor or individual comments, he/she may challenge the decision. In order to do this, the author should:

  • correct the manuscript of the article according to the reasonable comments of the reviewers and editors;
  • clearly state his/her position on the issue at hand.

The editors facilitate the resubmission of manuscripts that potentially could have been accepted but were rejected because substantial changes or additional data collection were necessary, and are prepared to explain in detail what needs to be corrected in the manuscript in order for it to be accepted for publication.

 

V. Editorial action if plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification of data is discovered

If an author is found to have acted in bad faith or to have plagiarized, fabricated or falsified data, the editorial board is guided by the COPE rules.

By "dishonest behavior" the journal "Legal Bulletin of Kuban State University" understands any actions of a scientist that include improper treatment of the objects of study or intentional manipulation of scientific information, whereby it ceases to reflect the observed research, as well as the behavior of a scientist that does not meet accepted ethical and scientific standards.

"Misconduct" does not include honest mistakes or honest discrepancies in the design, conduct, interpretation, or evaluation of research methods or results, or misconduct unrelated to the scientific process.

 

VI. Correction of Errors and Review of Article

In case of detection of mistakes, which influence the perception of the article, but do not distort the stated research results, they can be corrected by replacing the pdf-file of the article and pointing out the error in the article file itself and on the article page on the journal site.

In the case of detection in the text of the article errors that distort the results of the study, or in the case of plagiarism, detection of dishonest behavior of the author (authors) associated with falsification and/or fabrication of data, the article may be withdrawn. The initiator of the withdrawal may be the editorial board, the author, an organization, a private person.

The withdrawn article is marked with the sign "Article withdrawn" and the information about the reason for withdrawing the article is placed on the page of the article. The information about the retraction of the article is sent to the databases that index the journal.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.

  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).

  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. Specified when registering the names and addresses will be used solely for technical purposes of a contact with the Author or reviewers (editors) when preparing the article for publication. Private data will not be shared with other individuals and organizations.
